Fashion movements and progressive fashion trends can offer understanding of cultural behaviours. The postmodern cultural concepts of citationality and intertextuality are particularly suitable to application in the world of fashion, and the work of contemporary Irish" designer J.W. Anderson, in referencing the work of contemporary Japanese designers and gender fluidity, invokes both concepts at a level which merits critical evaluation.
