This thesis will explore the concept of the monstrous feminine as a boundary zone. The central focus of this essay is based on the importance of the female monster and its relationship to the abject, femininity and the boundaries between human/animal, masculine/feminine with a particular focus on women/wolf. Drawing on the writings of Barbara Creed, Julia Kristeva and Clarissa Pinkola Estes. this essay will consider these ideas in relation to the artworks by Kiki Smith.[Abstract].
