It's not surprising that much of his work has not been published before, as it illuminates dark corners and uncomfortable vignettes of Irish society. This work does not sell in galleries; appear on walls of corporate Ireland or the political elite. This is not the Ireland of the stereotypical old man drinking stout in a 'back lit' pub, the doe-eyed freckle faced child or the rural rustig gate that has dominated Irish photographic culture. This is photography 'from' the street not 'of’ the street. However, while appearing to be 'grab' shots, there is evidence of careful attention to the classic social documentary photographic concerns and conventions.
