The aim of this essay is to identify the role of the masculine within contemporary fashion, and how fashion contributes to both the formation and disruption of existing hegemonic masculinity. By exploring serveral ideologies of gender and masculinity and applying them to examples within the fashion industry, I attempt to give an account of the current state of masculinity in fashion today, be it for beter or for worse.
