The Dope Years: The Story of Latasha Harlins is a 19 minute documentary that explores and retells the life of Latasha and how her death is directly connected to the Los Angeles climate of the 1990s. Through reimagined scenes from Latasha’s life, the audience gains insight into who she was as a person and the impact she made on her community. The Dope Years explores perspectives of those who were children at the time and identifies the issues that plagued the Los Angeles community in the 1990s.
