In this essay I explore the connections that science has with the arts and examine the areas where both fields meet with and identify where Snow's Third Culture may be recognised today? I firstly discuss the writings of C.P. Snow and then discuss the work of artists who deal with scientific themes or processes and describe how science impacts on their practice. I will explain the work of each artist in relation to significant scientific research areas that I have broken into two sections which are Biology and Physics. My interest in this topic originates from my commitment to naturalism and evolution which I believe are the only credible explanation for the existence of life. This rational outlook on life is the core of my research and concept development and this essay explains the work of other artists who use a scientific framework and different methods in their practice.
