<br/><br/>Thesis submitted for B.A. Hons in Fine Art (Painting) 2015. This essay looks at the Dionysiac adventures of The Grateful Dead, their use of psychadelic and the rise of counter culture. It looks at their relationship to the writings of Nietzsche regarding music drama and community. The essay shows the development of philosophical ideas from the early American philosophers to the Beat writers through to the band and their community.
