Analysis will evaluate the resulting new hybrid of performance art that is almost wholly detached from the traditionally commercial aspects of the clothing industry. This essay will also draw from aspects of Anne Hollander, Michel Foucault, and RoseLee Goldberg s theories to assist in contextualising and interpreting the significance of McQueen s lifework in terms of his showmanship, demonstrating how his work merits the status as that of an artist or director. Applying elements of art theory on topics such as McQueen s execution of various themes and locations, as well as the utilisation of astounding finale displays and model selections; this essay will establish a better understanding of the importance of the relationship between McQueen s fashion shows and the realm of performance art. This essay analyses the developments occurring in the luxury fashion sector in relation to the heightened influence of digital and social media within marketing and retail. Using Burberry's positive experience as an example to highlight the possibilities that are provided by Social Media to connect more effectively with the millennial consumer bracket. [Abstract] ER -
