The essay examines the potrayals of feminity in Disney's 2010 animated feature Tangled, through analysis of the characters Rapunzel and Gothel. If acknowledges progession in Disney's approach to character development and uncovers traces of stereotypes that were prevalent in the studio's earliest films. The essay highlights the need for more diverse portrayals of femininity in animated feature films.[Abstract].
