This extended essay will examine the rise of contemporary female pop artists who claim to be feminists. In so doing the focus will be on three contemporary female artists, Miley Cyrus, Lily Allen and Beyonce all of whom have claimed to be feminists. This essay will examine each of the artists individually using feminist theory in order to determine whether she is truly a contemporary feminist. [Abstract]
