Same message, different medium. Is this art? An analysis of Grayson Perry's work [Extended essay] : Ann McBride by
Material type: Text; Format:
print
Publication details: Limerick : Limerick School of Art and Design/ LIT; 2016
Dissertation note: Grayson Perry became the first potter to win the Turner Prize in 2003. Over the following years, both his work and his public personality have gained momentum. On occasion his outspoken and irreverent attitude, combined with his wacky transvestite costumes may have succeeded in eclipsing an appreciation of his art. ̉e objective of this essay is to examine his contribution to the fine arts and look at where contemporary ceramics are placed today within the art establishment. It will look at the reasoning behind the critics arguments and the age-old dispute of what constitutes art. It will seek to clarify the positions held by the critics, the artist and the art establishments.Thesis submitted for B.A. Hons in Ceramic Design 2016
