In this extended essay, I will look at depression as both a disability, and as a form of insight. Looking at how people can, and should be allowed to exist differently in the world without fear of being labelled and stigmatised. I will evaluate the works of artists and designers who use depression as an inspiration for their work, or whose work aesthetically enacts depression. I aim to understand the relationship between poetics and aesthetics, and their relationship with the cultural works explored. By doing so I hope to understand the unlikely relationship between depression and beauty . [Abstract]
