It can be argued that vision may establish a gap between the subject and object during the experience of sculptural objects. This paper explores the capacity of the proximity senses in accordance with vision to reduce said gap and increase an artwork s potential to incur an existential awakening in the experiencing subject through a more intimate relationship with an art object and subsequently with the world around them.
