I chose this topic as my studio practice investigates coding and decoding around contemporary visual symbols, with particular reference to emoji. I was interested in the different meanings and interpretations that each emoji can create. What sparked this area of research was a conversation with my niece regarding a certain emojiwe interpreted something so different from the same emoji.
