The purpose of this paper is to analyse the misrepresentation of transgender characters on American crime drama CSI, and to identify how these portrayals may help to start conversations about real legal and medical issues affecting the transgender community. Particular attention is paid to the shortcomings of the legal system in relation to gender recognition.
