This essay looks at the notion of androgyny and the contradictions within androgynous fashion. The idea of androgyny is to blend and blur masculine and feminine traits to create an ambiguous style which is neither characteristically male nor female. This essay outlines the divide in male and female dress and questions why there is such a resistance to male androgynous dressing.
