505 0 _aThe aim of this essay is to relate the development of the work of the late fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen to the interdependence of the opposite life and death, happiness and sadness and good and evil experienced in his life and expresssed through his art with particular reference to 15th Century Flemish Vanitas painting along with Gothic and Romantic motifs of death. It is agrued that McQueen acheived a mature vision of transformation that transcended death culture in his final show Plato's Atlantis. [Abstract]
