It examines the early work of artist Grayson Perry as an example of how separation in childhood has an immense effect on the adults we become. It identifies this theory with a selection of psychological studies such as John Bolwby's attachment theory. It references the work of Morton Bartlett and Henry Darger as artists who have also used art as a form of therapy to accept separation.
