This thesis evaluates the aims of the Visual Arts Curriculum (1999). The 2005 evaluation reports are examined with focus toward the prohibiting factors for the curriculum implementation. This thesis demonstrates how clay can be utilised in the classroom as a means of rectifying these issues and meeting the aims of the Visual Arts Curriculum (1999). The interdisciplinary approach is introduced as a long-term resolution to the prohibitive factors for the implementation of the curriculum. Recommendations are also made on specific factors.
